Satellite Communications and Applications:
This course is intended as a non-mathematical overview course and is suitable for both technical and non-technical personnel working in the Satellite or Telecomms industry who wish to have an overview of modern satellite comms and its applications. This is a systems level course and will not include design.
The course is headed by Professor Barry Evans and involves leading presenters from both the University and industry. The course will cover:

Professor Barry Evans
Professor Barry Evans is Director of the Centre for Communication Systems Research. With research interests in a wide range of mobile & satellite communications including LEO/MEO/HEO studies, speech coding, modulation and on-board processing. Professor Evans has an established world wide reputation in his field. He is editor of the IEE book "Satellite Communications" as well as the International Journal of Satellite Communications.
Professor Rahim, Tafazolli
Professor Rahim Tafazolli is Head of CCSR's "Mobile Satellite Communications Research" Group with specific interests in third generation digital land mobile communication systems, radio sub-systems, protocol modelling and the role of satellites in personal communication networks.

Peter Barnett from TANDBERG Television, on Digital Video Broadcasting for Satellite. Peter Barnett is responsible for satellite business development at TANDBERG Television, a leading developer and supplier of digital
television broadcasting systems.
Mr Peter Shelswell, BBC Research and DevelopmentFor many years Peter was the Research Manager leading the research work into Digital Audio Broadacasting in the BBC.
